Unfortunately this is an OS level service and not something we can handle on our side. I suspect the root cause of this problem is an issue in the Launch Services in MacOS, there are multiple articles suggesting that the Launch Services database can sometimes get corrupted and not behave correctly. I wanted to give an update on this issue. Gonna keep the technology preview until this issue is resolved. Was facing the same issue and This one worked out for me. Not sure if that helps at all, but I thought I'd share just in case. And then maybe try again after the next Safari update. So I guess, for now, I'll keep the Tech Preview installed. I downloaded and installed the Safari Technology Preview again and without ever even running it, the extension showed up in my regular Safari again. So, of course this morning the extension was completely gone again. The extension continued to work just fine and I didn't think about it again until the next time I completely closed Safari (which I pretty much only ever do on Sunday-the rest of the week I have windows open for work that stay open all week). Since regular Safari was working fine, I decided I could maybe get away with uninstalling the Technology Preview (using AppCleaner). After some googling it seemed like using the Safari Technology Preview might fix it, so I downloaded and installed it and sure enough the extension was immediately available in my regular Safari (14.0.3 on OS 10.15.7). No previous versions of Bitwarden had ever been installed. I am a new user and so it was a new installation from the App Store. Pluginkit -mAvvv -p -extensionīut when I navigate to /Applications/Bitwarden.app/Contents/PlugIns/ I see "safari.appex". It is basically not sure if this will help, but when I run I notice there's also a webextensions dir: ~/Library/Containers//Data/Library/Safari/WebExtensions with an ist.

I'm running as a normal user btw, I have an admin account and use the elevated privileges when prompted. This is also after having done the in-app update to v1.25.1 too, so the clean install made no difference (though I only trashed the app, no prefs/data etc). If I remove that entry and then and reinstall Bitwarden (via DMG) and restart Safari all that happens is that the entry reappears but the RemovedDate updates to "now".
